It was a typical morning at the Smith household. Over breakfast, Linda gave her husband, Frank, a sharp look and said,
“I bet you don’t even remember what today is.”
Frank froze mid-bite. His brain scrambled. Anniversary? Birthday? Something important… definitely.
“Of course I remember!” he bluffed, forcing a confident smile as he grabbed his briefcase and bolted out the door.
At the office, he rushed straight into his buddy Mark’s cubicle.
“Mark, I’m dead meat. Linda said I forgot something important and I have no idea what it is!”
Mark leaned back, thinking. “Okay, crisis mode. Just shower her with gifts—make it look like a romantic master plan. She’ll be so flattered, she won’t question it.”
Genius.
Frank immediately sent her a gorgeous dress. Then, a few hours later, a bottle of her favorite perfume. And to cap it off, some luxurious lingerie.
That evening, he strutted through the front door like a man who had nailed it.
Linda was glowing.
“The dress is perfect! The perfume—heavenly! And the lingerie?” She blushed. “I can’t believe you did all this!”
Frank beamed. “Anything for you, sweetheart. Happy—”
She cut him off with a warm smile.
“I never imagined I’d be wearing all of it… just to pick up my mother from the airport!”
