My grandmother was an incredible cook

My grandmother was an incredible cook, always making the most delicious meals. But one evening, she served my grandpa a pie that was completely burnt—so black it looked like charcoal. I watched closely, wondering how he would react.

To my surprise, he didn’t flinch. He simply ate his slice without a single complaint and asked me how my day had been.

Later that night, I overheard my grandmother apologizing for the burnt pie. My grandpa’s response stuck with me forever: “Darling, I love your pie.”

Curious, I asked him later if he had really meant it. He put his arm around me and said, “Your grandma had a long day. She was tired. A burnt pie won’t hurt me, but a harsh word could have hurt her.”

We all make mistakes, but kindness, patience, and love are what truly matter.
