I found myself in the McDonald’s drive-through

This morning, at 83 years old, I found myself in the McDonald’s drive-through, taking my time placing my order. The young woman behind me didn’t appreciate the wait—she honked her horn and started mouthing something, clearly frustrated.

Instead of letting it ruin my morning, I decided to respond with kindness. When I got to the first window, I paid for her order along with mine. The cashier must have told her because as we moved forward, she leaned out her window, waved, and mouthed, “Thank you,” looking a bit embarrassed.

But here’s where it gets fun—when I got to the second window, I showed them both receipts and took her food too. Now, she had to go back to the end of the line and start all over again.

Moral of the story: Don’t honk at older folks—we’ve been around long enough to know how to teach a lesson with a smile!
